Jackson Northen,  stylized as J.G. Northen, is a composer.
Intersections, boundaries, in-betweens, crossroads.

Born into the age between the physical and digital world, Northen has a facsination with juxtapostision. Dedicated to the dichotomy, his work excells at placing the listener into clashing worlds, and moving you between them. Analog dreamscapes into acoustic swarms. Jazzy cityscapes into primeval nightmares. The juxtapositions force the audience to question their own internal notions of these comparasions, and marvel at the seamless integration of what should be clashing enviroments.

The freshman project No Longer, Not Yet explored the world of the internet phenomenon known as liminal spaces. Liminality is defined as an entity existing at the boundary between two states, which can create eerie feelings on forlorn and reverie. These emotions are brought up in full force through the 5 track EP, which guides listeners through a desolate, empty dreamscape which possesses a distant feeling of warmth and coziness.

His sophmore project Hail Continual takes a complete left turn, brutally dropping it’s audience off a jazz-laden cliff into an abstract world of pure sound. The psychedelic journey begs listeners to ponder concepts of form, vessels, and dualism whilst effortlessly weaving through focused consiousness and wandering epiphany. The project reaches it’s catharsis after an unrelenting 19 minute rollercoaster.
